You can dance ballroom, latin, new vogue, sequence, rock'n'roll, and more dance styles, most weekends in Christchurch and Canterbury.

 

There are several dance studios which hold regular social dances as well as classes and private lessons. There are live bands which play for dances on a monthly basis.

 

This listing of dances in Christchurch and the wider Canterbury area is compiled from published information, with no responsibility taken for errors and omissions. The About page has locations, maps and more details of the regular dances. Check prices and times with the dance organiser.

​​Regular monthly dances 

Mainland Big Band usually play at Cashmere Club first Saturday of the month - 7.30 - 10.30 pm

 

DanceSport hold dances 2nd and 4th Saturdays at The Ballroom, 301 Brougham Street 7.30 - 10.30 pm.

 

Walter, Richard, and Ruth hold a dance 3rd Saturday at The Village Presbyterian Church Hall  7.30 - 10.30 pm and usually each 5th Saturday.

 

 

​​Regular dances during the week 

 Ballare has a weekly social dance on Wednesdays 8 - 10 pm at The Ballroom 301 Brougham Street $15

 

Wrights Christchurch Ballroom Dancing Club have a fortnightly socal dance on a Friday at Russley School Hall 7.30 - 10 pm $15  Check their website for dates www.ballroomdancing.co.nz.

 

Danceabout aims to hold a fortnightly Friday dance, the alternate Friday to Wrights. Venues vary.

7.30 - 9.30 pm $8 for seniors and $10 all others. This is held in summer months and there are no dances in winter.

 

 

SEPTEMBER

 

The usual monthly dances are on in September.

 

Plus there is a special dance on Friday 6th September when Neville Wilkins and the Viscounts play for their 62nd anniversary
